Serving as the cornerstone of Temple Square in Salt Lake City, and the home of the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the Salt Lake Temple is an architectural marvel. In 2005, the Church undertook a seismic retrofit of the Salt Lake Temple.

RLS developed a signal conduit cable tray conveyance design for this project, which included connections via adjacent underground structures to the rest of Temple Square and the Convention Center. Both adjacent underground structures contained studio, edit suite, and rehearsal space that was connected to the Tabernacle.
The primary design challenge was to fit the various conveyance elements within the cramped interstitial spaces of this historic structure while completely concealing their presence in all public spaces. Existing mechanical, electrical, and theatrical systems further reduced the available space. The audio and video systems serve several purposes within the structure, including sound reinforcement with acoustic adjustments, public address, and a complete broadcast television system.
