Phase 1 of the Brocade Headquarters encompassed 525,000 square feet spread over three buildings. Brocade’s desire to create a next generation research and computing facility required extensive technology upgrades.

RLS’ design for cable plant architecture supported over 1,900 lab equipment racks, consolidated three data centers into one virtualized environment, and supported over 2,400 employees on both hard-wired and wireless networks. The design also had to allow space for the expected future expansion of the Campus from the current three buildings to four buildings. A key element to the technology infrastructure design involved upgrading the existing Category 5e cabling solution to a combination of Category 6a and fiber cabling, to ensure 10Gbps data rates could be delivered to each desktop.
RLS’ wireless system design utilized both a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Brocade’s own “Mobility” wireless access point technology to provide service without interruptions or “dead zones”.
